I’m not on Spotify.
If everyone just bought a Spotify subscription instead of buying the music they like from current artists, there would be no more new music ever again. This is because only people with a well-known back catalogue already can make any real money there to support themselves while making the art.
Your monthly subscription fee doesn’t support independent musicians at all, well maybe three nano-pennies. It all goes to A) 50% Spotify themselves B) 40% Record labels and investors C) 10% Rich rock stars from previous decades, if they actually own their own rights.
